László Fári (1898 - 1953)

Chemical engineer, PhD in Chemical science. Born in Hódmezővásárhely, took his school leaving exam at the Vásárhelyi Református Főgimnázium in 1916. From 1918 he was a student at the Budapest Technical University, where in 1924 he received his chemical engineer’s certificate. Following graduation he worked at the Chinoin pharmaceutical firm as a research engineer, then was appointed chief engineer, and in 1941 became chief engineer and manager at an independent research laboratory. Alongside his pharmaceutical company work, from 1947 he taught colour-film techniques at the Film School. He collaborated on the first Hungarian film in colour, Ludas Matyi, in 1949. In 1950 he became director of the Photo-chemistry and Photo-mechanics Research Institute in Vác. From 1951 he was guest photo-mechanics lecturer at the Technical University. He processed Hungarian production of light-sensitive emulsion for the printing industry and took a part in the preparation of the production of Hungarian colour photo material.
