Katalin Juhász (1932 - )
Chemist, fencer. Born in Hódmezővásárhely. Attained her chemist’s certificate in 1956 from the József Attila Tudományegyetemen in Szeged. From 1956 until her retirement some 30 years later she worked in the Battery- and dry cell factory as a development engineer. She took part in two Olympic Games as a competitor from the OSC sport club. In the 1960 Rome Olympics she won team silver, then team gold in the 1964 Tokyo Games, coming fifth in the individual tournament. Won three first places and two runners-up places in the team event at the World Championships, and twice came third in the individual competition. Won the team competition and came second in the individual tournament at the 1957 Paris Universiade. The only Olympic champion to come from Hódmezővásárhely.
