József Németh (1928 - 1994)
Painter. Born in Kaposszerdahely. He received his diploma from the fresco department of the College of Fine Arts as a scholar of the artists István Szőnyi and Gyula Papp in 1957. Settled in Vásárhely in 1957, where he lived and worked until his death. From 1962 he was a Derkovits-scholarship student, visiting numerous European countries on study trips. He regularly appeared (200 times in total) with his work at the Vásárhelyi Autumn Exhibition. He has had independent exhibitions at the Műcsarnok, Ernst Múzeum, and Csók Galéria. He took part as an exhibitioner at the Venice Biennale in 1960, in Paris at the International Youth Biennale in 1962, and at the Vienna Collegium Hungaricum. His world of work mainly focused on the land of the Great-plain and the workers and creators living there.
